If you’re planning on traveling here, there are a few essentials that you’ll need to throw in your bag (and a few things you need to know, before you start packing).

Since it’s located in the Southern Hemisphere, the seasons counter those that we experience in the Northern Hemisphere. That means that during the months that we Northern Hemisphere-ites (yes, we just make that word up) associate with cooler temperatures, fall colors, and pumpkin spice lattes, the folks down in Queenstown enjoying warmer weather.

Living Like a Local in Los Angeles

The City of Angels is well known for many attractions:  the timelessly famous Hollywood sign, The Grove, Disneyland, Universal Studios, Rodeo Drive, and other big, shiny, expensive things.  But contrary to the popular urban legends, not everyone in LA spends their days driving their Porsches between their private beach in Malibu and their mansion in Beverly Hills.  In fact, there are many cool, thrifty, hangouts.  Here are a few of my personal favorites:

Spend the 4th of July in America’s most unique city

During spring break about two years ago, I jetted off from San Francisco to New Orleans, where I visited my sister in her freshman year at Tulane.

Being a guidebook junkie, my little sister was an excellent tour guide, devoting all her free time during that week to showing off her new city.  Don’t get me wrong–I’m no expert.  But due to my sister’s “local” knowledge, I gained some valuable insights about what to see and do in NOLA.
